MOVIE 'PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN' AND CAREY MULLIGAN WIN AT THE AUSTRALIAN MOVIE AWARDS.

Is the movie as bad as the title? The answer may NOT surprise you.

"Emerald Fennell’s “Promising Young Woman” has won Best Picture at the 10th Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) International Awards. Carey Mulligan also scooped the Best Lead Actress in Film award for the film."

We went to Nu Metro cinemas and checked out this award winning Carey Mulligan performance and... well... let's start by saying this, we weren't taken over the moon. Not sure whether it's the writers or the director but the movie felt a bit underwhelming and extremely dramatic. Not in the classic stressful soap opera way you'd think , but more like a "why would she do that? I can't relate..." kinda way. Understanding the storyline, we empathize with why she needs to get her objective done because of how much she has lost and who she has lost. The pain and suffering she'd been through. That is the most gripping relation we had with Cassandra Thomas (played by Carey Mulligan). However we still don't understand why she was doing what she was doing in the beginning of the movie. Was it so she could expose herself to similar experiences? Was it for closure? Who knows.

However, we're proud of Ms Mulligan. A good performance as I feel she did her part in the movie, the writing just wasn't mind blowing for us.
