Lionel Messi Leaves Home

Will Barcelona ever win anything again? The answer may NOT shock you!

Lionel Messi - PSG Right Winger

After what feels like a lifetime of Messi's career stay at Barcelona, the Argentine player finally says goodbye in what has been an eventful week.

Many wondered when the day would come. The day that we would see Lionel Messi leave Barcelona and well... there you have it. We hope you're happy world. We shouldn't ever have to see the little magician in tears. Imagine...putting this sweet man through such a hard time. In all honesty though, Barcelona did have a tough choice to make: either admit that Messi is Barcelona by sacrificing 10% of broadcasting rights... or sell him, keep the rights and lose over $600 Million plus millions of fans. We're not so sure if the rights thing was really worth losing part of what has become the clubs legacy.

The way we see it here it here at OthersEyed Sport™, Messi is as valuable as any rights. His hard work and consistency throughout hundreds of games should've earned him that right. In an attempt to prove that no one player is bigger than the team, perhaps Barcelona forgot this. Quite a typical example in valuing money over people really. However, as mentioned before, Barcelona did find themselves in a very difficult position financially and had to think about the long-term. Losing a portion of their rights now could be crucial in 10 to 15 years when they might have found another Messi. They might never find another Messi and have to live with the fact that any sales made off of Messi's eventual retirement and legacy (most of which, as we know was built over many years at FC Barcelona) will only profit PSG or whichever club that the Argentinian forward ends up as.

One thing remains, he will always be a Barcelona legend and the team has gone out of their way to prove that. The number 10 jersey has officially been retired by the club in commemoration of Messi's departure to PSG. Messi made his way to Paris last week where he has been reported to have passed his physical examination well despite having to do a lot of self-training due to Covid-19 effects. Wearing a big, positive smile, he held his new PSG number 30 jersey up in pride (yes, we're also here thinking "what the ... is going on here?")

Well, all 30's aside, we are excited to finally see Messi elsewhere. We can't wait to see him play. Although he wasn't played or even on the bench for PSG yesterday, we're sure they can't wait to field him and who knows? Perhaps he'll do even better at PSG.
